You’re getting married. Congratulations!

Choosing the right wedding photographer is one of the biggest decisions you’ll have to make.

Unlike many aspects of the wedding day, your photographs will still be there when the flowers have passed their sell by date, and the dress is lovingly packed away, so it’s important to make sure you choose the right person to cover one of the most important days of your life.

Obviously, the most important thing to consider when choosing a wedding photographer is that you like their work. Unlike other wedding supplies such as a florist or musician, a wedding photographer’s product can only be judged after the day – when you receive your images. So make sure from the outset that the person you are going to use is reliable, consistent and fully understands your wish list.

The best way of deciding if a photographer is the one for you is to view their website and talk to the photographer. Do you like what you see? Would you be happy if your wedding images were to look similar to those in the portfolio? Most wedding photographers provide a consultation prior to booking, view samples of their work througb print, and wedding albums. It is also a great way to get a feel for each other, or better still book an engagement photo session. An engagement session will not only allow a great set of images, but for more conversation, chat over the wedding plans, and perhaps provide you with ‘save the date’ cards, or a signage board for you wedding day. Either way it enables you and your photographer to build a more solid working relationship!

It is equally important that you like your photographer as a person, get to know them a little; after all they’re technically another guest at your wedding! When you hire your wedding photographer, you need to know that you will feel comfortable and relaxed around them. Your photographer is documenting one of the most important days in your life.

East meets West Wedding-Part 2

Into day 2, the Saturday. Everyone from the Asian Wedding also attended the very next day. This time commencing with a ceremony at Wellingborough Registry Office. The ceremony room is the council chamber, it’s very spacious, and bright. I was surprised with it’s grandness, it can seat around 55 guests. There are some very well kept gardens to accommodate post ceremony portraits. It was like seeing old friends as I’d already spent a whole day with the ahppy couple and their guests. The ceremony was very emotional, both of the Brides children were involved, her Daughter  being a Bridesmaid and the Son a Groomsman. The sun shone, and there was no sign of tiredness from any of the guests or from the new Mr & Mrs.

After a photoshoot in the gardens, the wedding party travelled to The Commonwealth Centre in Wollaston. More festivites, celebration, a lavish meal, dancing, wedding cake, laughter, a Barbershop Quartet, and some beautiful peoms and tributes delivered from the Bride’s children. They all partied until the early hours. I on the other hand left for my drive home, and my bed around 10pm, totally exhausted, but happy!

East meets West Wedding Part 1

Wedding photography is so diverse. No two days are the same, no two weddings are the same. Rabia and Arran, whom I met last year, had a very different wedding. they booked me for 2 days. I covered the Asian Ceremony on the Friday, and the British Registry Office ceremony the very next day.

It was my first Asian wedding, to say I was green would be spot on. The whole family is involved. Everyone gathers for the ceremony. The Bride cannot be seen during the ceremony. She is usually heavily veiled, and sat behind a partition of some form. In certain regions, the bride (Hindu or Muslim) always wears red clothes, never white because white symbolizes widowhood in Indian culture. In Southern and Eastern states the bride usually wears a Sari. A Priest in this case conducted the ceremony. A Wedding Official from the Church can also take the ceremony. Officials, Priest, Father of the Bride and the Groom sit around the table. The Priest read sermons, gave advice and discussed the Dowry which was offered by the Groom. Some of the ceremony is read and conducted aloud. Whilst some is quite private and discussed very quietly. It was very private and I felt intrusive if I were to take pictures. During this part of the ceremny I refrained out of respect. Once the Dowry had been accepted the Groom went onto a bright;y furnished and decorated stage. His new Bride was presented to him for the unveiling, and he gave a gift of a bracelet. One by one Family and friends are presented to the happy couple in order to be welcomed into each other’s family. I took images of every single guest with the Bride & Groom. This was an important part of the ceremony, and in particular the Couple wanted capturing on film. This was followed by a vast meal, which everyone is expected to join, including myself. Rabia and Arran requested that I be part of the celebratory meal. The partaking of  the meal was very important for them. I love Indian food so joined them for the feast. I left the party at around 10pm. Tomorrow was day 2, and another long day ahead, so I needed my well earned rest…

A wedding photographer, It’s all about me…

My name is Sharon owner of 9 Images Photography.  My studios are based in Northampton Town Centre. I’m a Wedding Photographer, and also a Family Portrait Photographer. I live, and was born in Buckingham. I’m quite centrally based within the UK, with easy access to motorways, train stations, and airports.

I love food, travel, sport, and a really good movie, oh and a little dog named Archie. My passion for photography stems from my childhood. I was a hobbyist photographer for many years. At the age of around 8 years of age, I found an old camera, and started snapping friends, family, the cat, and holiday pictures, pretty much anything really. I was mainly interested in people, and animals. I’ve a mountain of black and white photographs, all taken in my early days. I’ve images I took into my teens, and when my children were born, they became not only the focus of my life, but also the focus in front of my lens.

I have a passion for land and seascape photography, which has grown over the years, enhanced by the ability of worldwide travel. I’ve sold many prints of my landscape work, in various forms from canvas wraps to metallic lustre prints.

As a Family Portrait Photographer for many years, specialising in Couples Photoshoots, and Baby Photography, I had never thought about Wedding Photography. This changed when one of my Couples from a studio shoot, asked me if I would photograph their wedding. They wanted me? I’d only shots weddings when attending friend and family affairs, the thought was a little daunting. I was apprehensive but overjoyed that they had chosen me.  It was an absolute pleasure for me be their official photographer, even though I was so very very nervous on the day. Getting it right, and not messing up, was obviously in my head, but I calmly carried on with the day, and loved every minute. That’s when my love for Wedding Photography began. On the back of this and having a full day’s wedding portfolio under my belt, I photographed a friend’s wedding soon after, and I was totally hooked.

Since then I have worked hard, studied, and attended courses to ensure that my wedding photography business grew in stature, and that I could offer only the highest quality of photography. I knew that this was the area where I’d like to be specialised. It’s a never ending journey, as each couple and wedding is different, so there’s always something new to learn. Photographing a wedding, or any genre, is an art form. It’s why it’s so addictive.  I hope that many Brides and Grooms to be, will join the journey with me.

If you’d like to contact me, please send me an email, and include your wedding date, using the contact form.
